SLTV: Middendorp: It Is Unfair To Say That We Are Only Missing Khune
Kaizer Chiefs head coach, Ernst Middendorp maintains that while Itumeleng Khune is a big miss for his side, there are other injured players whose absence are also being felt in the team.
Khune has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to a shoulder injury, while the Soweto giants also have other key players out injured.
Chiefs are without the likes of Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Erick Mathoho and Joseph Malongoane, with the German head coach since confirming that Manyama is believed to be out for the rest of the season.
“I’m missing Lebogang Manyama, I’m missing Philani Zulu, I had to take out Leonardo Castro today, it was burning, I’m missing Khune, I am missing experienced players I can continue with the list, Tower, Rama,” Middendorp told the media after Chiefs were eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup competition.
“I think it is very unfair to (only) refer to Khune, we are not playing golf, we are not playing tennis, we are playing as a team, and everybody has to contribute,” the head coach explained.
“We have national team players (that) are not around, I know this team has shown fantastic performances, it’s not about one player, it’s definitely not, I think that’s unfair to the team and the players who have on the field,” he added.
