This latest matchweek of the 2021/22 Bundesliga season saw Norwegian wonderkid Erling Haaland score a brace to briefly put Borussia Dortmund at the top of the standings.
However, that top spot was quickly reclaimed by reigning champions Bayern Munich after they cruised past Bayer Leverkusen with a 5-1 victory thanks to braces by Robert Lewandowski and Serge Gnabry and a single strike by Thomas Muller. The Bavarians showed the other Bundesliga teams just what it means to be champions and how much it means to them to retain the Bundesliga crown.
Speaking on the Bundesliga Connection, DW Sports correspondent and German football expert Kres Harrington describes Bayern's performance against Leverkusen as an "offensive avalanche", having scored all five of their goals in the first half to embarrass Bayer in front of their home fans.
Bayern were also strong at the back, and new signing Dayot Upamecano showed that he can provide more than just defending as the Frenchman provided the assist for one of Lewandowski's strikes.
