Manchester City have been a force to be reckoned with since their takeover in 2008, spending millions on players in order to become one of the biggest clubs in world football. The Champions League trophy, however, is still out of reach after their most recent European disappointment. City were dumped out of the competition this week at the hands of Real Madrid at the semi-final stage, losing 6-5 on aggregate following an incredible second-leg turnaround from the Spanish giants, who scored two goals in a matter of seconds to force extra-time at the Santiago Bernabeu. Karim Benzema was then on hand to convert the penalty he won to cement Real's spot in the final.
Speaking on the SL Podcast, Soccer Laduma international news correspondent Kurt Buckerfield thinks that Pep doesn’t have the emotional connection with his players that Jurgen Klopp has at Liverpool. If that is the case, big City supporter Sean Roberts might have something to say about it!
