After struggling for form early on in the season, Orlando Pirates have appeared reignited under new coach Josef Zinnbauer and currently sit third on the PSL standings, ahead of the return of the 2019/2020 Absa Premiership season. Mathematically, Pirates have an outside chance of winning the league title, sitting eight points behind log leaders Kaizer Chiefs with seven matches remaining. Despite this, former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Brian Baloyi has stated that he doesn’t see them winning the title this season.
Speaking on The Carwash podcast on SL Radio, Baloyi stated, “I wouldn’t put any of my money on them. For me, when you look at them, they have potential, lots of potential in that team but for me, I think lack of experience is going to be their biggest challenge. Consistency has been one of the things that has been lacking in the team. If you look in the past three or four years, every year they do almost an overhaul. I don’t think they have it [this season] to push Sundowns or Chiefs all the way”.
