Mabena had the local football fraternity sitting up and taking note when he made a substitute appearance for coach Rulani Mokwena's side in their 5-1 win over Royal AM.
The grade 10 pupil was signed by Sundowns from the School of Excellence, although there is another of the school's products in the pipeline.
Camran Dansin, is another that has caught the attention at the school. The former head boy's impressive displays for the school has earned him a European assessment, where he is set to jet out in the near future.
Dansin, who spent five years honing his skills at the school, was an integral part of their success in recent times.
The Siya crew reached out to the player's representative Paul Mitchell, Director of Siyavuma Sports Group who confirmed that the midfielder is set to jet out in the coming weeks.
"Yes, Camran is just awaiting the issue of his Schengen visa and then he will travel to Europe, for trials. A top young player, who if he goes into the right environment now, could have a big chance.
"We have quietly been working on certain aspects with him, in order to prepare him for Europe in the best possible way, there is lots of local interest, but we have always been clear since one year ago in our goal of sending Cammy to Europe as a first choice.
"He was a standout player for the School of Excellence and first-class scholar.
"We don't like to hype a young player up, as it creates unnecessary pressures, the expectations and opinions overseas, are far different then that from a local perspective, so for now it's all about focus, feet on the ground, hard work and quality development, that's we concentrate on," Mitchell told the Siya crew.
