According to Siya sources, Itumeleng Khune settled on R470,000 a month at Kaizer Chiefs when signing his new contract, a figure that works out around R5.6 million a year.

It is thought that, contrary to media reports, Khune hasn't taken a pay cut from what he was earning in his last Amakhosi contract, however did have to lower his demands from what he was asking in his original renewal terms.
Khune was on Chiefs' bench last night in the MTN8 quarterfinal win over Maritzburg United, signalling that he has put pen to paper on his new deal, and it is thought that he has agreed to a five-year deal that will run until 2020.
As reported in this week's issue of Soccer Laduma, it was originally believed that Khune could bag up to R650,000 a month in his new deal with the Amakhosi, though it appears that he had to settle for substantially less at R470,000.
However, Khune's wage does still make him one of, if not the, highest paid player in South Africa, especially following Elias Pelembe's wage cut in joining Bidvest Wits from Mamelodi Sundowns.
