In This Week’s Edition Of Soccer Laduma

In anticipation of this week's 1404th edition of Soccer Laduma, we preview some of the features included. The latest edition will be available at your nearest outlet on Thursday, 12th December 2024.

SIYA SPECIAL

Since scoring the breathtaking Nedbank Cup final goal against Mamelodi Sundowns last season, Orlando Pirates midfielder Relebohile Mofokeng has been making waves with his exceptional performances at both the club and international levels. The 20-year-old made his professional debut against Royal AM in May 2023, but took the local football scene by storm last season. Recently, he has been linked to some of Europe's biggest clubs, with reports indicating that FC Barcelona are among those showing serious interest.

KAIZER CHIEFS

After eight fixtures in the Betway Premiership, Kaizer Chiefs have leaked 12 goals. That puts Amakhosi at 1.50 goals conceded per game, the most in the entire division. In fact, it's just one clean sheet in the last 18 matches in the PSL and their last five fixtures in all competitions have seen 12 goals shipped. We take a look at the goals conceded and ask what could have been done better as Nasreddine Nabi looks to arrest the side's porous back four.

HUGO BROOS

In a candid interview with Soccer Laduma at the VISA FIFA World Cup Trophy Showcase in Johannesburg, Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos reflected on his journey since taking charge of the national team. Despite harsh criticism of his robust changes and outspoken nature initially, Broos has successfully transformed the team, restoring pride and dignity to South African football. The recent capacity crowds at Bafana's last four home fixtures stand as a testament to the renewed belief in the team. The Belgian mentor believes that the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification will be the pinnacle of his career, emphasising that this will be his final job as a head coach.

Kagisho Dikgacoi

It took a while, but Kagisho Dikgacoi finally returned to Golden Arrows. He has a big role to play in guiding the younger players coming through the ranks. Dikgacoi is among the few South African footballers who moved directly to the English Premier League, signing with Fulham back in 2009. Soccer Laduma spoke to the former Crystal Palace midfielder about his return to Arrows, and the players he believes are capable of moving abroad. He also shares his thoughts on showboating.

International Feature

For the first time in recent memory, Manchester City look like a club on the ropes. Once a well-oiled Machine of unrelenting dominance, the champions find themselves in uncharted territory as they grapple with poor results, off-field distractions threatening the club's reputation, mounting injuries, and a manager who, in his 16-year career, has never before been in such a vulnerable position. The burning question is: why are City in this difficult place? Soccer Laduma takes a closer look at the team's issues.

Revolving Column

This week we hear from former Polokwane City captain Jabu Maluleke on the win against Kaizer Chiefs.

Siyagobhoza

In this week's edition of the popular Siyagobhoza section, there is news on why Sundowns kept Steve Komphela, clubs monitoring Reeve Frosler's Chiefs situation and Pirates unlikely to offload Gilberto.
