DStv Premiership Report: SuperSport United v Chippa United

Result: SuperSport United v Chippa United

Date: 06 January 2021

Venue: Lucas Moripe Stadium

SuperSport United's winning run came to an end after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Chippa United in a thrilling DStv Premiership encounter at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday.

Agustin Dithlokwe came into SuperSport's starting line-up in place of Onismor Bhasera in the only change from their win over Baroka before the break.

Thamsanqa Gabuza had the first chance of the match for the hosts in the fourth minute. A deep ball was played and it fell kindly to him. He attempted to lob Mtshali but it was over.

Ghampani Lungu then came close to breaking the deadlock with a superb acrobatic attempt at goal which Mtshali did well to save.

The visitors took the lead completely against the run of play in the 39th minute. Mokhele Maloisane's tame effort was parried straight into the path of Andile Mbenyane for a simple finish.

It was a soft goal to concede for Kaitano Tembo's side and they rallied back to level matters in the 49th minute when Sipho Mbule's cross found Bradley Grobler and his long-range deflected looping header had too much pace and dip on it for the Chilli Boys keeper.

In the 56th minute, Mbule produced a delicious flick around the corner for Lungu to race onto and he charged at goal and drilled it to Gabuza at the back post who missed by inches.

Gabuza had worked hard and deserved his goal when he gave Matsatsantsa the lead for the first time in the match in the 83rd minute. Webber's corner was an inch perfect one from the corner and the burly marksman headed it home with precision.

But in a dramatic twist of events, Dan Malesela's side scored a late equaliser to claim a share of the spoils. Maloisane Mokhele, who had enjoyed a good outing, finished at close range after good hustling from striker Bienvenu Eva Nga.
