Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper, Brilliant Khuzwayo, was delighted to put in a performance so close to home as he helped his team to the MTN8 title glory.
Khuzwayo, 24, won the Man-of-the-Match award in this past weekend’s clash between Amakhosi and Orlando Pirates at Moses Mabhida Stadium after pulling off a number of impressive saves to help his side claim victory.
The shot-stopper, who hails from Umlazi in Durban, said after the game that he was proud to have shown the people in his province what he is capable of.
Khuzwayo said, “It means everything to me, having to go out onto the field and represent yourself, represent your soul and how you feel inside, it is just an amazing feeling. It's my own backyard, we're in KZN, I'm from KZN, it's just an inspiration for me to come play in KZN."
Meanwhile, the ‘keeper also dedicated his performance to his late mother, who passed on when he was a youngster. He added, “This goes out to my mother, my late mother who passed away in 2006, this is why I am wearing number 16. When I was 16 years old she used to say, 'make me proud'."
Following his impressive display, Khuzwayo is now expected to start in goal against Maritzburg United this weekend when the Amakhosi return to league action and try to maintain their 100% start to the season.
