Cape Town All Stars striker, Zaid Patel, says that he’s learnt a lot during his spell in the National First Division so far, but ultimately wants to be in the Absa Premiership.
The 21-year-old has five goals in his last five games for CT AS, most recently scoring the winner as they beat Baroka FC 1-0 to move up to fifth on the NFD table.
Patel, who is on loan from Bidvest Wits until the end of the season, is currently the club’s top scorer with six goals, and will no doubt be looking to get into double figures between now and the end of the season.
Speaking to the Siya crew ahead of the upcoming Cape Derby against Vasco da Gama, Patel said, “I think that my spell in the NFD will be great for me going forward. This season alone I’ve learnt more than in my first few years of professional football. I’m gaining experience through getting game time and hopefully I can keep improving.
“My short-term goal is to be playing regularly in the PSL, but I’d really like to get a move abroad as soon as possible so I plan on doing everything in my power to achieve that.”
The powerful forward, who is hoping to break into the South African youth teams, will also be eager to help All Stars in their push towards the NFD playoff places over the course of the next 12 games.
