The sale of Bloemfontein Celtic has been described as a ‘killer of the economy' by Free state businessman Lebo Mokoena.
The Premier Soccer League held a press briefing on Tuesday confirming the sale of Bloemfontein Celtic to Royal AM boss, Shauwn Mkhize.
Lebo Mokoena, who was among the businessmen who tried to save the financially struggling Bloemfontein side, had strong opinions regarding the sale of Celtic, revealing that Max Tshabalala destroyed the lives of many people by selling the club.
"(Sellling) Celtic destroyed millions of people in the Free State, Mokoena told the Siya crew.
“If he had financial issues, (why) did he not speak to maybe the community or the government could have helped if he didn’t want private companies to help?”
Mokoena added that the tourism industry will suffer from the sale, while small businesses will also suffer as many people depended on the Bloemfontein Celtic franchise.
"The economy of Mangaung will go down, the tourism of Bloem, millions that were spent on the facility for Celtic, you have got to be kidding me, man!
"There's a lady that opens a small shop for that 90 minutes to feed her family, who knows if she is taking her kids to school with that?” he concluded.
