The conclusion of the GladAfrica Championship was remarkable not only for the fact that it went to the final day with the title being decided on goal difference but also because the winners, Swallows FC, have returned to the top flight for the first time since 2015. The last time they played Premiership football, their neighbours, Kaizer Chiefs won the league title. After a remarkable comeback to snatch automatic promotion, The Dube Birds have returned to the top flight.
Swallows FC Club Chairman David Mogashoa recently discussed their plans for the coming season, the plan for club coach Brandon Truter and how the club plans to introduce youth players into the team. Speaking on The SL Podcast’s ‘The Big Interview’, Mogashoa states decisively that “Swallows are not a retirement village,” and reveals the long term goal of having a solid and productive youth academy to support the first team.
