A former Orlando Pirates and Platinum Stars administrator has responded to reports that he has been arrested.
Reports on social media on Wednesday suggested that Senzo Mbatha had been arrested in Tanzania for alleged match-fixing, though there has been no official word from the experienced administrator or his club, Young Africans on the allegations.
In responding to the damning allegations, Mbatha has taken to social media to refute the reports by confirming that he is at home and is safe.
“Football never sleeps. It has never dawned on me that moving from the Red Team to YangaSC would cause me so much antagonism. It is now evident that I have caused hurt and hatred in the Tanzanian football fraternity to the extent that “people” will risk it all to tarnish my name in pursuit of revenge. I am safe and sound, I am home, and I am looking forward to serving Timu ya Wanachi. Thank you Fellow citizens, we are together!” Mbatha shared on his official Facebook account.
Mbatha joined Yanga in August this year from Tanzanian Premier League rivals Simba SC after he helped them to win a domestic treble last season.
He has been in Tanzania since last year, having joined Simba as their CEO.
