Sekhukhune Confident Of Win, Send Players Home…

The Siya crew has it on good authority that GladAfrica outfit Sekhukhune United have made a drastic decision regarding their players in light of the unfolding drama in the country’s second tier.

Sekhukhune as well as Royal AM both celebrated ‘winning’ the title last Sunday following their respective results.

Babina Noko beat JDR Stars 3-1, which technically saw them finish in second place, but are confident of receiving three points from their pending DC case in the match against Polokwane City - that would see them go above their KZN counterparts. Meanwhile there were raucous celebrations from Andile Mpisane’s Royal AM who finished in first position after their one-all draw with AmaTuks – but were not handed the trophy.

As reported by the crew, acting PSL CEO, Mato Madlala, advised that the urgent application sit down for hearing, will take place on 8 June, just days before the relegation/ promotion playoffs are set to take place on 13 June.

But, the Siya crew has it on good authority that Sekhukhune are confident of emerging victorious in their appeal, and as a result, have sent their players home instead of preparing to fight it out in the relegation/promotion play-offs next month.

Contacted for comment, the club’s Head of Communication and Marketing, Tebogo Mapinga confirmed that the players had been sent home, but merely for recuperation purposes.

“The boys come off a tough few months, it is only normal that they would be given a few days off. If you ask Richards Bay FC the same thing, they will tell you that their players have also been sent home, so the players have gone to recuperate, for no other reason,” Mapinga told the crew.
