Mamelodi Sundowns

Why Sundowns' CAF Game Has Been Moved

Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Rulani Mokwena has explained how the change in time for their upcoming CAF Champions League group B clash against Al Hilal will benefit them.

The group C match between the two sides has been moved from 18h00 to 15h00 on Friday, April 02, at the Al Hilal Stadium in Omdurdam.

Mokwena has explained that the lighting at the stadium is a big reason for the change in time, but this will also work in their favour, due to the fact that they are going to fly back home immediately after the game and get some rest before their next match.

"The reasons given for moving the match was that the reality is that the stadium is not in the best of conditions from an electrical perspective. We are not engineers, but the reports we get are that the lighting is not very good and you could see it in the Bafana Bafana game where in the second half where one side of the pitch became a bit dimmer, on the side of (Innocent) Maela. It augurs well for our match and our preparations and we get to focus on that. Does it work in our favour? I think so. We then win a bit more time to recover and prepare for our next domestic match in South Africa. We fly out immediately after the match and it allows us more time to rest, prior to engaging in another stretch in relation to our travels.

Sundowns are top of group B on 12 points after four matches.
