Orlando Pirates’ Tshegofatso Mabasa could be on his way to break his own record and that of his teammate at the Soweto giants.
Mabasa, who is in his first season with the Buccaneers, scored in the 3-2 win over Polokwane City on Tuesday night to take his tally for the season to six goals.

Last season, the striker netted 9 goals for Bloemfontein Celtic, leading up to Bucs signing him at the end of the campaign.
Mabasa finished the season as the joint second highest goalscorer with current teammate Thembinkosi Lorch, behind Golden Boot winner in Zambian striker Mwape Musonda of Black Leopards.

Three of Mabasa’s goals last season were against Baroka FC (two) and Leopards (one) – the two teams that Pirates will play against to finish the year.
Having come through the ranks at Celtic and played in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge at some stage in his career, Mabasa is proving to be a force to be reckoned with, as a top striker in Mzansi’s top-flight.
The 23-year-old was signed on a three-year contract by Pirates.
