In an exclusive interview with Soccer Laduma, Lyle Lakay revealed that Pitso Mosimane and Benni McCarthy share the same passion for football.
The 28-year-old made the move to Mamelodi Sundowns from Cape Town City in July 2018, where he has since been enjoying life as a utility player; used both in attack and defence.
Speaking in an exclusive interview this week, Lakay shared what it’s been like working under Head Coach Mosimane, pointing out that he’s seen some similarities compared to his time under McCarthy.
“He’s passionate. I can make an example... I played under Benni (McCarthy) and they are the same. They are passionate about football. Gavin (Hunt) too. They are kind of like perfectionists,” Lakay said.
“They want everything to be good and they are never happy, which is good because it will help you improve. And you have to buy into what they are doing, because if you don’t, then you won’t succeed. For now, it was a bit shaky in the beginning, but I got used to it and that’s how you learn also. They just want the best for you, which is good because you will eventually achieve what you want to achieve,” he added.
