After they both scored a goal each, to earn Chiefs valuable three points against Cape Town City on the weekend, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Happy Mashiane were at it again on Tuesday afternoon with respective strikes as Amakhosi cruised past Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila 3-0 at FNB Stadium. The other goal came from Lebogang Manyama.
Chiefs have now moved to seventh position on the standings and just one point behind rivals Orlando Pirates who are sitting in fifth place.
Having gone with Ngcobo (21) and Darrel Matsheke (21) in his starting line-up, Hunt had Njabulo Blom (21), Mashiane (23) and Leboang Lesako (21) come on, although Lesako was later substituted owing to an injury.
In his post-match interview after the TTM match, Chiefs striker Samir Nurkovic spoke highly about Ngcobo for his contribution to the team and said that he is the future of the Soweto giants.
It was the Serbian’s assist that Ngcobo scored from to make it two goals in two matches and three for the campaign.
“It was a nice run from the little star. He is a star, the future for Kaizer Chiefs. I saw him and I just flick on and after that he did the rest. Amazing run he made there and congratulations to him,” he said.
Ngcobo was also recently lauded by Chiefs defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele who referred to him as a genius and said that ‘he is intelligent because he sees things that not everybody can see’ on the field.
“He’s a genius. I think he is intelligent because he sees things that not everybody can see,” said Mphahlele.
Ngcobo has made 10 starts out of the 12 league matches for Amakhosi so far in their campaign, with Mashiane also putting his hand up to be counted among the top contributors after featuring in all the team’s last three matches.
Blom has featured in all 12 matches, with six starts under his name, with Matsheke and Lesako also making notable progress.
