Ruzaigh Gamildien’s potential move from Swallows to Kaizer Chiefs has hit a snag, though the two clubs have agreed a deal in principle.
As reported in the latest edition of Soccer Laduma, the forward has emerged as a priority signing for Amakhosi ahead of next season and both clubs have held successful talks over the player switching to Naturena – but all that is subject to personal terms.
The Siya crew broke the news of Chiefs’ interest in Gamildien earlier this month and discussions between the Glamour Boys and their Soweto rivals Swallows have moved at a frantic pace and indications are that they have struck an agreement.
Chiefs are also interested in one of Gamildien’s teammates, defender Njabulo Ngcobo, but Mamelodi Sundowns are expected to try and hijack this transfer because they, too, believe the centre back has great potential.
Gamildien joined the Dube Birds at the start of the season from Chippa United, signing a one-year contract with an option to extend it in June this year according to Siya sources.
With his red hot form the 31-year-old has become the club’s top goalscorer in the DStv Premiership and earned a recall to the Bafana Bafana squad after more than seven years since he made his debut in the COSAFA Cup.
But if he does not agree to the personal terms that Chiefs have tabled, then the move will collapse and Amakhosi would have to look elsewhere.
