'They Don't Take Shortcuts And Are Hungry'

Former midfielder Joseph Makhanya is pleasantly satisfied with Swallows FC and is confident that they will repeat their performance last season.

The Dube Birds were a surprise package in the last campaign.

However, although there are now higher expectations for the 2021/22 DStv Premiership season, Duku Duku believes that Swallows won't find it hard to compete as they've shown against Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 competition.

"I feel like Swallows have a good squad, I saw exciting football against Orlando Pirates and new good faces. They made good signings,” Makhanya told the Siya crew.

"I still feel they will need someone to replace Njabulo Ngcobo and get more experience in the midfield, but I'm glad that they are getting Given Tshibedi back so I still feel with these two coaches, Simo Dladla and Brandon Truter, they play good football!”

Makhanya added that with the mixture of young and experienced players, Truter's team will definitely finish in the top eight without any hassle.

"They understand each other and they play football that we can all understand as South Africans, I strongly believe they will finish in the top eight again; easily.”

"They don't take shortcuts, they have experience and young players, the team is hungry and understands what is needed from them.”
