Lebogang Manyama’s strike on the half hour mark was enough to seal the points for Kaizer Chiefs this past weekend and here’s what his head coach had to say about it.
Orlando Pirates hosted Chiefs at the FNB Stadium in a sold-out Soweto Derby clash, where Amakhosi left the stadium will all three points and bragging rights.
The Bucs suffered a 1-0 defeat to Amakhosi, compliments of Manyama’s goal, where Ernst Middendorp picked up his third derby victory for the 2019/20 season.
“If you have a game like this, it is absolutely crucial to find the right balance and way to handle it. This is what you could see with the team, the experience and I said it during the week, it is very crucial. Willard (Katsande), George (Maluleka), Khama (Billiat) and Samir (Nurkovic) are all grown up in a way and have been in several derbies,” Middendorp told the media after the game on Saturday.
“If you see how Lebogang was waiting for the right moment and how he handled it, it was excellent in a way where he wanted to execute it in such a way. We had other moments where you see, not the grown up, not being comfortable in the final box.
“But that’s definitely a goal that you can put in to the category of an excellent Lebogang execution,” he added.
