Chippa United have extended the contract of one of the club's midfielders to deflect interest from Orlando Pirates and other clubs in Gauteng.
In his second season in the topflight, Maloisane Mokhele has continued from where he left off in the last term with impressive performances and the club has decided to extend his deal.
Of the 17 matches for the Chilli Boys so far this season, Maloisane has made 10 appearances and has been one of the players that the club’s current head coach Kurt Lentjies has been banking on in trying to help the Gqeberha outfit to move away from relegation zone.

Last season, the 23-year-old amassed a staggering 28 appearances as Chippa went on to save their topflight status through the play-offs after a difficult season.
Speaking to the Siya crew, the Bothaville-born player’s agent Ratshibvumo Mulovhedzi from Rush Hour Sports Management confirmed that the Eastern Cape outfit has exercised their one-year option on his client’s deal.
“Yes, I can confirm that Chippa United have exercised the option on Maloisane Mokhele’s contract. We are happy with the latest developments because the player has been happy at the club and grateful for the opportunity he was given to play football at the highest level. Also, the club’s chairman Mr Chippa Mpengesi has been good to us, and we didn’t think twice when the club made their decision to extend the deal,” said Mulovhedzi.

“Furthermore, Chippa’s current coach Kurt Lentjies is a former teammate of mine from FC Fortune from when I was still playing and he is a good friend of mine, and I am pleased with what he has been doing at Chippa since being handed the coaching reins. As someone who wants to see Kurt succeed, it wasn’t a difficult decision to make for us to agree when the club informed us that they would be exercising the option. I would also like to thank Chippa United’s general manager Morgan Mammile for the way everything was handled in dealing with the matter,” the intermediary added.
The Siya crew has been informed that both Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns have been monitoring Mokhele’s situation and keen on possibly signing him.
