It’s been confirmed to the Siya crew that there has been changes to an initial agreement between Orlando Pirates and Chippa United.
Last week Friday, the Buccaneers announced on the club’s website that defender Justice Chabalala would be moving to Gqeberha to join the Chilli Boys, a team he is no stranger to, after he’d returned from his loan at Bloemfontein Celtic.
Pirates were also offloading attackers Austin Muwowo and Monnapule Saleng to spend a season at Soweto rivals, Swallows at the same time.
While the Siya crew understands that the duo have indeed reported for training at the Dube Birds, their teammate Chabalala has not made the switch to Chippa.
“He is not here. We have been in camp in Cape Town preparing for the start of the season and I can tell you Justice is not here,” is all coach Gavin Hunt would say when approached for comment by Soccer Laduma.
It wouldn’t be the first time a Pirates player makes a U-turn after being informed he would be loaned out to the Chilli Boys – defender Gladwin Shitolo did the same in 2019 and moved to Golden Arrows instead.
Both Shitolo and Chabalala have previously played for Chippa.
The Siya crew also sought clarity from Pirates.
“Well, it’s true that there has been developments since the club made the announcement last week regarding Justice. He will no longer be going to Chippa,” said Floyd Mbele, who is the Buccaneers’ senior official and club administrator.
Indications are that Sekhukhune United could be Chabalala’s next destination, but there is no confirmation yet in that regard.
