Wits Proved Many Wrong

Wits goalkeeper Brylon Petersen said they proved many people wrong after qualifying for this year's Varsity Football semifinals.
The Johannesburg side become the first team from Wits to make the play-offs in any Varsity Sports tournament and Petersen knows all eyes will be on them in their semifinal against UWC.
"It is a great achievement for the university," said Petersen.
"We made history as a team this year after many labelled us as underdogs for this tournament.
"We proved people wrong and I think being underdogs drove us to better ourselves."
Wits have only managed two clean sheets in the tournament, but Petersen has had some match-winning performances for his team. His best performance came in his team's 2-1 against VUT in Round Six at the Slaughterhouse where he won the man of the match award after thwarting many VUT shots at goal.
"I haven't kept many clean sheets this year, but I have been playing well.
"I had a few memorable games and a few I want to forget. I just want to have a man of the match performance again when we meet UWC in Cape Town," he added.
Wits and UWC played out a disappointing goalless draw in Round One in Johannesburg, however, Petersen feels that the semifinal will be a totally different encounter.
"I am sure it will be a much better game. UWC definitely have the confidence after finishing on top of the standings and we have momentum after winning our last three games.
"It is windy in Cape Town so we are going to play in difficult conditions, which means we are going to have to adapt," said Petersen.
UP-Tuks and TUT will meet in Thursday’s first semifinal, while UWC and Wits will battle it out in the second semi.
