All Or Nothing For Tuks
It doesn't get any simpler than this for UP-Tuks - win and get into the semifinal or lose and get knocked out of the tournament.
Tuks coach, Evangelos Vellios, stated the upcoming fixture against NMMU Madibaz is exactly the same, stakes wise, as it was in last year's final. The winner progresses and the loser bows out.
Going into the match Vellios knows his opponents have momentum and confidence following their consecutive wins over Kovsies and Limpopo but feels that the teams are on the same level.
"If you look at the results, we have beaten the same teams and drew against the same teams. So I feel that we are same level as them. They definitely have the momentum and confidence, given their previous results," he said.
Vellios admits it's been a challenging year for the defending champions after they replaced key players and the current crop of students haven't been able to replicate the performances of last year's team.
"It's been very challenging. The guys we got in haven't been able to replicate the performances of last year as a result of their inexperience but it's a learning process for everyone," he added.
The coach knows that anything can happen during a match and pressure can cause funny things to happen to individuals who have put in consistently good performances.
Vellios went on to say the most important thing for his team is that they head into the game with a winning mentality and sticking to the game plan.
"Anything can happen on the night. All I can ask form my players is that they stick to the gameplan and the result will take care of itself," he said.
