Carnell Keen To Keep Even Keel

After his team’s emphatic 6-0 victory over UCT earlier this week, UJ coach Bradley Carnell’s biggest headache is choosing who will play against NWU on Monday.

Carnell has admitted his biggest decision is whether to rest and rotate his players to ensure they are fresh ahead of the play-offs, while still keeping an even keel to keep the momentum going.

Captain Grant Bruchhausen is back from suspension and has been included in the starting eleven. Kaylan More, Thabi Ledwaba and Carl Clements are also back in the squad with Lerato Tleane, Tshepo Tolo and Brian Monyonya out.

Bruchhausen will bring composure to the back four and Carnell will hope Ledwaba, More and Clements spark some creativity for his strikers to score some more goals on Monday.

UJ are currently on top, but only by goal difference with NWU breathing down their necks in second.

The match on Monday should prove to be a mouth-watering affair as both teams play a passing game and focus on dominating possession as they attack.

UJ's final league fixture will be at home against fellow newcomers Limpopo who are yet to win a game, so Carnell is not feeling much pressure heading to Mafikeng.

UJ squad: 16 Mduduzi Khumalo, 22 Wisdom Mathebula, 21 Grant Bruchhausen, 8 Lwazi Nogenga, 23 Tebogo Mandyu, 7 Ruben De Freitas, 13 Sandro Claro, 18 Pontsho Nyathi, 14 Karl Clements, 1 Trent Harrison, 2 Matthew Edwards, 9 Lumkile Dava, 19 Ruwell Jagger, 8, 20 Steven Sibanyoni, 15 Omphile Majwafi, 12 Kaylan More, 11 Thabi Ledwaba

Date: Monday, August 25

Venue: NWU Stadium

Time: 16.45 (Match televised live on SuperSport)
