Ikey Banana Skin For UJ
UJ coach Bradley Carnell says his team cannot afford to be complacent in their clash with the winless UCT in Soweto on Monday.
The unbeaten Johannesburg outfit will be playing their first game at their Soweto campus, and go in as heavy favourites against an Ikeys side that are at the bottom of the standings with just one log point from their four games this season.
However, Carnell warned that they cannot afford to take their opponents lightly as they look to put some pressure on frontrunners NWU.
"UCT might be struggling but they will be determined to bounce back against us.
"We need to stamp our authority on the game early on and show no fear, although we still have to show some respect," he said.
UJ managed to scrape a draw with Kovsies last week, but Carnell was disappointed by their efforts in the first half and will not tolerate a similar display in front of their home fans.
"We have to make a step up, I won't accept another first-half performance like against Kovsies," he said.
With captain Grant Bruchhausen serving a suspension for his red card against Kovsies Matthew Edwards comes in to bolster their defence whilst Mduduzi Khumalo will start at goalkeeper with Trent Harrison still battling with an ankle injury.
