Kovsies Plan NWU Revenge
UFS-Kovsies are keen to take advantage of their home support when they welcome NWU to Free State in a crunch match next week.
The Varsity Football teams go head-to-head in a crucial final round-robin game as both teams look to bag a place in the semi-finals.
Kovsies’ inspirational coach, Godfrey Tenoff’s return from Brazil, where he helped South Africa achieve a silver medal in the Soccer World Cup for the intellectually impaired, will be a welcome boost to his team.
The home team’s opponents are still unbeaten and are second in the standings on 12 points. Kovsies are one of three teams on 10 points in the top five and have a keen eye on ending up in the top four after next week.
“We are always happy to be playing at home and I am happy to be back with the players too. Last time we played NWU it was away and that didn’t go too well.
“We will look to win this one anyway we can. Our aim is to qualify so that is what we must set out to achieve,” Tenoff said.
The seasoned coach says the players have been working on their defence and they will aim to beef up their attack next week by getting more players forward.
