No Place Like Home For Ikeys
Varsity Football bottom-dwellers UCT will be very grateful back on home turf on the Green Mile on Monday.
The Cape side have got just one point to show for their efforts in five games this season, and are coming off consecutive 6-0 drubbings on the road against NWU in Mafikeng and UJ in Soweto.
Experienced defender Byron Donaldson says that after a rough few weeks they will be grateful to play in front of their home crowd as they continue their search for their first win.
"We know the conditions here, and the crowd are behind us so we can be relaxed and play our game. The crowd will help us push on for that first victory," he said.
Although things have not gone particularly well for the Ikey Warriors this season, Donaldson says that they have not allowed spirits to drop.
"We have a great spirit in the squad. We are a family, so we make sure to pick each other up and keep believing.
"Obviously we have had a difficult couple of weeks, but there is a determination to prove that we can compete and show the best of ourselves," he added.
UCT will host Kovsies in Round Six as they look to salvage some pride, but the visitors will be intent on securing a big win to keep their play-off hopes alive.
