Showdown In Cape Town
UCT and UWC will lock horns with more than just bragging rights on the line for the Cape sides.
UCT will be hoping to convert their impressive home ground performances into points as they go in search of their first win of the tournament and avoid the dreaded wooden spoon.
UWC, on the other hand, will be hoping to get the better of their hosts and also want other results to go their way in order for them to sneak into the next phase of the competition.
The Warriors have had a tournament they'd like to forget but goalkeeper Bevan Adonis has full confidence in his team to overcome a UWC side who will be going all out to claim maximum points.
"It’s a Cape Derby and we’ve always been able to compete against them (UWC), so we won’t be doing them any favours," he said.
UCT captain Greg Bryer stated the derby shares similarities with the rivalry between their rugby counterparts and Maties.
"It's basically the same sort of rivalry as UCT and Maties but ours isn't as intense as the rugby guys. They are on a different level," he said.
Log positions will be thrown out of the window when these sides meet on the Green Mile to see who will be unofficially crowned as 'Kings of the Cape'.
