Mamelodi Sundowns could very well lose the race for Thulani Hlatshwayo’s signature, but they are making progress in their offer to one of the Bidvest Wits trio.
The Siya crew reported on Friday that the Brazilians had tabled a R17-million bid to the Clever Boys – a club on the verge of being sold – for captain Hlatshwayo and two attackers in Deon Hotto as well as young Haashim Domingo.

It is understood talks with all three have been moving at a frantic pace, and Orlando Pirates have also now joined the race, particularly for ‘Tyson’ and Hotto.
But insiders have not ruled out an interest in Domingo, too, although Sundowns are believed to now be closer to concluding a deal with the 24-year-old than his two senior teammates, who could be stalling to see if a move to Pirates suits them better.
Sundowns have followed up their pursuit by offering him a long-term contract considering his age.

Although he hasn’t yet agreed to the personal terms, indications are that the deal is almost over the line, but an announcement could be delayed if the manner in which the deal has been structured has to be revised because ‘Tyson’ and Hotto could go elsewhere.
Sundowns will have to amend the R17-million offer if they cannot get the players who were expected to come together as a package.
