With Sifiso Hlanti expected to join Kaizer Chiefs after parting ways with Bidvest Wits, some of the players at the Soweto giants could be affected by the experienced Bafana Bafana defender’s potential move to the club.
Following the departure of his now former teammate Lorenzo Gordinho to Danish First Division club Viborg FF – after the ex-Chiefs defender opted against a move to Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila who have taken over the ownership of Wits, Hlanti is also expected to join a new club.
As reported in edition 1190 of Soccer Laduma, the 30-year-old left back who has also been linked with Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, is believed to have agreed on a move to Amakhosi, according to sources, pending the outcome of the club’s appeal against the two-window transfer ban imposed on them by FIFA in February.
Last week, Chiefs confirmed that they will be waiting to hear from FIFA about their fate after they appealed at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Switzerland on Wednesday.
Should Chiefs be successful in their appeal and the ban gets overturned, indications are that Hlanti will be one of the players they will be hoping to conclude a deal with in preparation of the new season.
In the event of Hlanti joining Amakhosi, two players in Amakhosi squad namely Yagan Sasman and Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya could be affected by the possible arrival of the former AmaZulu star.
Sasman and Ntiya-Ntiya made progress in the team this past season under the club’s former coach Ernst Middendorp, having made 17 and 12 starts respectively in the league, in the left-back position for the German coach.
With his experience, Hlanti could fit in with the plans to assemble a strong squad to challenge for trophies in the upcoming season under the new coach to be unveiled, if he finally gets signed.
