SAFA has given an update on the readiness of match officials for August 08, confirming that three referees have tested positive for Covid-19.
After several weeks of deliberation, Premier Soccer League chairman, Dr Irvin Khoza finally confirmed on Monday that the 2019/20 season will resume action on August 08.

However, prior to the announcement, the first group of match officials were already confirmed to have been tested and camping in a hotel since last week.
Speaking on SAFA’s official website, Medical Officer and Chief Compliance Officer, Dr Thulani Ngwenya confirmed that so far, three referees have tested positive for COVID-19.
“Only three referees tested positive for Covid-19 but are all asymptomatic. We are monitoring them on a daily basis and they are quarantining on the other wing of the hotel,” Ngwenya said.

“Dr Ngwenya said all of the match officials in camp were looking in good shape and come August, will be ready for the arduous test,” SAFA added.
