Orlando Pirates coach Rulani Mokwena has admitted that Thembinkosi Lorch is not at his very best at the moment, but argued that he will soon lift his game again.
The Bafana Bafana international was on focus at the weekend when he scored the winning goal for the Buccaneers in their narrow win over Stellenbosch FC in the opening round of the Telkom Knockout at Orlando Stadium.
It was a stunning goal that was reminiscent of his sizzling hot form last season as he bagged the Footballer of the Season award.
But many have argued the transfer speculation before the window closed last month affected Lorch’s performance.
“I know people are losing a little bit of faith and patience in him, but he will come. He is the reigning footballer of the season and there is a reason why Lorch is the reigning footballer of the season. He has got the talent and he showed again why he has that title. It can get better, he knows that. But he is very honest and wants to always improve to contribute to the team,” Mokwena told the media.
So far Lorch has a single goal, one he scored on Saturday night, in eight matches in all domestic competitions this season.
