Pitso: Am I Killing My Chances Of Coaching Another Team?

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has explained why he is never afraid to make his opinion public, even though it may ruffle a few feathers.

‘Jingles’ hasn’t stopped hammering away since early this month ahead of back-to-back matches between Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs – first in the Shell Helix Ultra Cup and then in an Absa Premiership clash over this past weekend.

Chiefs have won both games. And Mosimane maintains, while they are better than last season, they are “benefitting” from referees’ mistakes.

“I always give it straight. I don’t hold back and go around in circles. I stand for myself. I speak, why not? I don’t hold back because I am killing my chances of coaching another team next year or something. No. When I fight, I fight,” he told journalists.

Mosimane is well aware that his comments often rub people up the wrong way, but he insisted that not only is it his nature to talk, but that is usually how battles for the championship go as he urged Chiefs and other contenders to buckle up.

“I don’t care who I fight against, for my team I fight. I don’t think that maybe I have said too much against this team and then maybe I won’t get a job. Excuse me. I don’t play in that space. I wear my heart on my sleeve and I fight. We are going to fight for the league with them, like we did with Wits and they gave way. We did with Pirates for the last two years and they gave way, so we fight again. The common denominator is us fighting for the last six years. Four times we won it and we came second place, twice. You must have endurance when you want to fight with us. You must go six years. We are here. One match doesn’t mean anything,” he added.

Mosimane has since been sent a letter by the Premier Soccer League related to his recent comments on the decisions made by match officials and has five days to respond to the communication.
