Tonight he’s set to line up against some of the best footballers the world has to offer once again, and Bongani Zungu’s Amiens head coach has spoken of the ‘adorable’ Percy Tau.
Luka Elsner was the first European coach to work with the Bafana Bafana star following his loan move to Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in the Belgian Proximus League, and the Slovenian oversaw his rise from fresh face to Player of the Year in his debut season outside of South Africa.
Now with Zungu’s side in Ligue 1 after leaving RUSG at the end of last season, Elsner has heaped praise on the 25-year-old, saying that the Club Brugge attacker deserves all the success that’s coming his way.
Tau and his teammates host Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League for their third group stage game of the season, and he’ll be hoping to get a starting berth after making his return from injury as a second half substitute against Royal Excel Mouscron at the weekend.
Speaking to RTBF, the coach said, "He deserves it… With us, he always gave everything, whether in practice or in matches. There is really a joy when you see him evolve like this, he is an adorable boy and an extremely talented player.
“In terms of his quality, it's not a surprise for us, it went very fast but I hope he continues like this to greater heights."
Brugge face PSG at 21h00 this evening, with the game live on SuperSport 11.
