Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana defender Innocent Maela could be at risk of missing the match against Kaizer Chiefs at the end of this month.
With the Buccaneers returning home this afternoon in the DStv Premiership match against TS Galaxy, after picking up maximum points in their previous match against Maritzburg United in KwaZulu-Natal, Maela will have to avoid getting booked if he gets a run in Josef Zinnbauer’s team.
The 28-year-old, who had the misfortune of putting the ball in the back of his own net in the 2-0 loss against Black Leopards, is currently on three yellow cards.
After being benched for Bongani Sam in the match that followed against Golden Arrows, Maela was back in the starting line-up on Saturday against the Team of Choice, although Sam also started in the hard-fought win.
Pirates will host Chiefs at Orlando Stadium on Saturday.
Meanwhile, as confirmed by the PSL, three players are set to miss this afternoon’s action for their respective teams in veteran Chiefs forward Bernard Parker, Black Leopards’ Edwin Gyimah and Cheslyn Jampies of Baroka, owing to suspension.
