Orlando Pirates are in search of their first win in almost two years against Golden Arrows as Josef Zinnbauer and his side will want to continue with their progress after their impressive Soweto Derby win.
The Buccaneers will be at the Sugar Xulu Stadium later today high in spirits from their 2-1 win over Kaizer Chiefs on the weekend, though they will have to be wary of their not so impressive league record of late against Abafana Bes’thende.
Bucs failed to beat Arrows in their first round fixture at Orlando in January after the match ended 0-0.
Last season, both matches between the two sides ended in 0-0 draws. The last time Pirates beat Arrows in the league was during the 2018/19 season when Zambia international striker Justin Shonga scored the only goal of the match at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in March 2019, after he was assisted by another Buccaneer in Luvuyo Memela.
Meanwhile, Pirates midfielder Thabang Monare will be going into the match today walking a suspension tightrope as he is currently on three yellow cards.
Monare picked up his third yellow card of the season against Chiefs and is at risk of missing Bucs’ Nedbank Cup Last 32 match against GladAfrica Championship side Uthongathi on Saturday, should he get booked today.
