Aubrey Ngoma’s clean break from Mamelodi Sundowns is currently being held up, the Siya crew has been informed.
The winger recently became a free agent after the Brazilians decided against exercising the one-year option on his initial contract when he joined them in January 2018.
Soccer Laduma reported last month that Swallows were having another go at signing Ngoma having missed out on his signature last season, opening the door for the player to move back to Cape Town City on loan.
Downs signed Ngoma from the Citizens more than three years ago, but his lack of game-time left the player frustrated and keen for a fresh chapter, which City provided temporarily and now the Dube Birds can do so permanently.
It’s understood Ngoma wants to remain in Gauteng now that he is a free agent, however, talks between the player’s camp and Swallows have not yet reached a stage where all parties involved are satisfied with the outcome.
With Swallows not needing to pay a transfer fee, Siya sources have then indicated that the delay is with regards to personal terms – the salary package, signing-on fee and length of the contract would typically be on the agenda.
Ngoma finished off strong in the Mother City last season with 12 appearances in the second half of the campaign. He was injured when the season kicked off.
It now remains to be seen whether Swallows can tie him down in the coming weeks, though the fact that he is a free agent means Ngoma can be signed outside the registration period.
