Kaizer Chiefs will have a quiet March as they turn their complete focus to clinching the Absa Premiership, but four players are a risk for their most important game this month…
The Glamour Boys made it through the weekend’s Soweto Derby unscathed as they secured a 1-0 win over Orlando Pirates to go seven points clear at the top of the Absa Premiership table, picking up their fourth win of the new year.
Next up for Ernst Middendorp’s side is an encounter against league strugglers, AmaZulu, and the German will be well aware of the fact that he has Daniel Cardoso, Lebogang Manyama and Reeve Frosler all sitting on three yellow cards ahead of a crunch game against Bidvest Wits later this month.
While Middendorp will not want to take Usuthu lightly, he will be wary of losing that trio for the clash with title rivals, Wits, in the match that follows, and may opt to switch things up in order to prioritise the Clever Boys tie.
Aside from the trio who face suspension, Chiefs are also waiting to see what happens with regards to captain, Willard Katsande, who picked up an injury against Pirates and may face a spell on the sidelines – Chiefs have failed to win four of the six games he’s missed in all competitions in 2019/20.

Gavin Hunt’s side do still have two games in hand on Amakhosi as they harbour intentions of closing the gap on the league leaders, however defeat on March 18 would all but confirm that they are no longer in the title race given that they’re currently 14 points behind.
