Thulani Serero and Hendrick Ekstein are among five South African players abroad who could become free agents after nearing the last six months of their respective contracts.
Both players have had relative success at their respective clubs since moving out of their country of birth.
Now in his second season in the east, Serero has established himself as a core member of the Al Jazira squad since making the move from Vitesse in 2019.
Injury has meant that 'Cream' has missed the last few matches for club and country, but his club is confident to have him back in time to continue their push for the Arabian Gulf League.
The 29-year-old is currently into the last year of his two-year contract with the club, which ends in June 2021, although indications are that the club could extend the contract of the man widely viewed as the best midfielder in the UAE.

For Ekstein meanwhile, he joined Azerbaijani outfit Sabail FK from rivals Sabah on a one-and-a-half-year deal earlier this year. While he has performed with aplomb, the former Kaizer Chiefs man could be set for crunch talks with his club as he enters the final six months of his contract.
It is highly likely that ‘Pule’ could be handed a new deal with Aftandil Hajiyev's side, after taking the Azerbaijan Premiership by storm this season. Ekstein has also been linked with a return to Mzansi in recent times.
