Mamelodi Sundowns have finally made a decision on one of their strikers as they begin to look ahead to next season – whenever that will be.
As reported by the Siya crew for some time now, Jeremy Brockie was waiting for news on his added option from the Brazilians, which the club would have had to exercise no later than May 31 – and his agent has now confirmed the forward will be leaving the club.

“Sundowns haven’t exercised their option and it means we will now be able to look at opportunities elsewhere for him,” said Mike Makaab of Prosport International.
Brockie joined Downs in January 2018 from cross-town rivals SuperSport United for a substantial fee believed to be in the region of R7-million, but his time there was more frustrating than he’d hoped due to a lack of game-time.
At the start of the current season, the Kiwi international was loaned out to Maritzburg United and was always expected back at Chloorkop at the end of the campaign – though Downs would have had to take up the added option.
They’ve not.

“He will be a free agent at the end of the season, whenever that is,” Makaab explained.
What will also make Brockie appealing, besides his 44 goals in a little over a 100 matches at SuperSport, is the fact that he can be registered as a local resident and any interested party will not need to reserve a foreign spot on their books.
The Siya crew reported last week that his former team SuperSport were hot favourites to land his signature, though nothing official has been confirmed.
