Cape Town City Boss John Comitis has commented on the future of star striker Fagrie Lakay, who is understood to have attracted interest from North Africa.
The 24-year-old Bafana Bafana international has been in the form of his life over the last two seasons, scoring 14 goals for the Citizens which saw him being recalled to the national team by Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos.
It comes as very little surprise then that the player’s form has attracted interest.
The latest news reaching the Siya crew is that an unnamed club in the Egyptian Premier League have tabled an offer for the speedy attacker; however, a deal is unlikely to happen at this stage with City keen to hold onto their top striker, having already lost Surprise Ralani to Mamelodi Sundowns and with Abbubaker Mobara closing in on a deal to AmaZulu.
The Siya crew reached out to club boss Comitis who reaffirmed his side’s stance on the player.
“Fagrie Lakay is not for sale at this point,” Comitis said.
In addition, the Siya crew previously reported that Lakay had also landed on the radar of Serbian giants Partizan Belgrade when they made the trip to Mzansi last year in attempts to forge a strategic relationship with the Mother City outfit.
