A club boss has been charged by the PSL for bringing the League into disrepute and a date for his disciplinary hearing has been confirmed. 

Following the SAFA arbitration’s ruling in favour of Kaizer Chiefs last month for the club to be allowed to have their two matches that were not played in December to be replayed, there have been concerns from the Cape Town City camp about the decision as the Mother City outfit is one of Amakhosi opponents for those two fixtures.

As reported by the Siya crew, insiders at the Citizens have revealed that despite the team’s planned trip to Gauteng this week to face Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Wednesday, the club had still been waiting on official confirmation from the League regarding the Chiefs match, scheduled for Saturday April 30.

Siya sources have indicated that City look set to remain in Gauteng for the replay against Chiefs.

The PSL has since, through prosecutor Zola Majavu, confirmed that City’s boss John Comitis has been charged for bringing the League into disrepute for some of the utterances in the media which have been attributed to him.

“The second confirmation is that Mr John Comitis will appear before the DC this coming Friday on the 29th of April to answer to charges of bringing the League into disrepute based on some media utterances attributable to him which which he subsequently confirmed as being true and accurate,” said Majavu, speaking through the PSL’s media department.

The Citizens are scheduled to leave Cape Town today for their DStv Premiership match against Sundowns at Loftus Versveld Stadium, although coach Eric Tinkler and the team are awaiting official notification from the Premier Soccer League.
