Two top South African agents have gone on record to clarify confusion regarding a Kaizer Chiefs midfielder.
Chiefs are expected to open negotiations with Willard Katsande’s camp in the coming months about his long-term future at Naturena, although there seemed to have been a misunderstanding with regards to who exactly represents the player.
Sean Roberts, a well-known football agent, is legally the representative of Katsande, having gone on record several times in local media regarding the 34-year-old.
However, in a recent article in local media, Michael Ngobeni from M Sport Management, was quoted commenting on Katsande’s Chiefs’ situation.
"My client will take whatever offer Chiefs put on the table. These two [Chiefs and Katsande] have a good, healthy working relationship you know, all is positive,” Ngobeni said at the time.
Roberts, who was clearly disappointed about the matter, told the Siya crew today that, “It is bizarre to see that someone else is saying that Willard is his player, when in fact he is our player. I have spoken to Mike about this, who has said that he does not represent Willard and he is my player, so I am very surprised to see that article, I do think it is quite unprofessional that this is happening. We are still waiting for Chiefs to get back to us regarding Willard’s future.”
Contacted for comment, Ngobeni cleared up the situation to the Siya crew, by revealing that he meant no harm and was simply commenting as a friend of Katsande.
“I don’t want to cause problems, Sean is my mate. I was just commenting as a friend, Willard and I we are friends and I didn’t comment as if I manage Willard, I am not managing him.”
