Mamelodi Sundowns produced a spectacular smash and grab on Wednesday evening, beating Black Leopards with 10-men thanks to a Peter Shalulile inspired performance.
The DStv Premiership log leaders travelled to the Thohoyandou Stadium on the back of three consecutive draws and were looking to finally end this winless run – but when Mothobi Mvala was sent off it looked unlikely.
Leopards had in fact managed to score first through Ovidy Karuru in the second half, but Shalulile cancelled his goal out quickly.

However, Mvala got his marching orders shortly after the hour mark and you’d think Leopards were home and dry!
But… Downs were the ones to pile on the pressure instead, despite their numerical disadvantage, though Lidoda Duvha did have some clear-cut chances that were brilliantly saved by goalkeeper Denis Onyango to keep things level.
Then Shalulile followed up his spectacular half-volleyed shot for the opening goal with a winning strike that showed his prowess and moved him up the Golden Boot race with six goals, half of what SuperSport United’s Bradley Grobler has scored.
Winning 2-1 on the road kept Downs firmly at the top of the table.
