Pitso Mosimane has revealed that Mamelodi Sundowns have had to make their own arrangements in Morocco to find a training pitch.
It’s unusual, given that the home side, in this instance Wydad Casablanca, must handle the logistics for the visiting team as per CAF rules.
The hosts are expected to confirm arrival time of the traveling team, book them a luxury bus and give them access to a training venue ahead of the game.
Wydad play Downs, who are top of Group C in the Champions League, on Saturday night in Casablanca and it appears the mind games have begun.
“We had a problem with the training pitch, but we are used to this,” said Mosimane, whose side arrived in Morocco on Tuesday having flown in via France.
“We managed to get ourselves a pitch because Wydad could not get us one even though it is the norm that the home team should get you a pitch. But let’s no go into that, it’s not important. What is important is that we found a pitch, even though it is not the best of the best. But it is the best in that space and we’ve got to use what we have and focus.”
Sundowns got off to an ideal start in the group stages of the Champions League by beating Petro de Luanda of Angola 3-0 at Loftus Versfeld last weekend, while Wydad only managed to salvage a point during their visit to USM Alger in Algeria.
