Percy Tau has been spotted in Mzansi ahead of his next move, the Siya crew has been led to believe.
The Bafana Bafana star was understood to be close to joining Al Ahly, with Soccer Laduma reporting that the Egyptian club had already agreed a transfer fee for his services to secure his move from English Premier League outfit Brighton & Hove Albion before the close of the window on August 31.
According to insiders, Tau had also long agreed personal terms to become Ahly’s latest signing.
He was omitted from the Brighton squad last weekend for their opening fixture of the new season away to Burnley.
When asked about the attacker’s whereabouts, coach Graham Potter put it down to “personal reasons”, further fueling speculation regarding his exit.
Now, the Siya crew has been informed that Tau is actually in South Africa and was this week working on his visa to travel to Cairo in the coming days – and it is expected that Ahly will confirm his arrival.
Tau joined Brighton in 2018 after being crowned the Footballer of the Year following a stellar season at Mamelodi Sundowns alongside coach Pitso Mosimane, who is now at Ahly and is understood to be instrumental to the Egyptian giants sealing his signature.
Brighton loaned him out three times before recalling him in January this year, but with no guarantees that he would be a regular the Ahly move, which will come with a reported R18-million a year salary, looked appealing.
The player's camp was not available for comment at the time of publishing.
