Sekhukhune United, who are the ambitious newcomers in the PSL, have made their intentions clear by assembling a strong team as they prepare for their first season in the GladAfrica Championship.
Sekhukhune are under the Malatji family, brothers Simon who is the club’s chairman and Jonas, the CEO, are entering the professional ranks of Mzansi football after purchasing the status of Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila.
The club unveiled their new players and kit on Thursday afternoon in a glittering function held at the Malonjeni Guest Farm in Johannesburg.
Among the players unveiled at the club include veteran midfielder Jabu Maluleke, as well as his former Polokwane City teammates Simphiwe Hlongwane and Sibusiso Mbonambi.
Former Highlands Park defender Sifiso Mbhele and his ex-teammate at the club Tapuwa Kapini are among the new players, as well as former Baroka FC striker Prince Nxumalo, ex-Mamelodi Sundowns youngster Siyabulela Shai and Yusuf Maart, who was previously with Orlando Pirates.
Veteran coach Johnny Ferreira will lead the team as the head coach, while ex-Downs midfielder Alex Bapela will serve as the technical director
It has been confirmed that the club will play its home matches at Makhulong and the Old Peter Mokaba Stadiums.
