After Mamelodi Sundowns claimed a fifth consecutive league title on Wednesday night, Soccer Laduma looks at the players who are celebrating their first ever Premiership titles as professionals.
Sundowns wrapped up their DStv Premiership title with a goalless draw against Cape Town City at Loftus Stadium, clinching it with four matches to spare. The draw, however, meant that they would not be able to break their record of 71 points in a season. They can only get to 70 points if they win their four remaining matches.
What matters more, though, is the fact that the title is in the bag, especially for those who will be lifting a Premiership title for the first time in their careers.
Three players who were in the starting line-up against City celebrated their first ever league title success. Grant Kekana, Surprise Ralani and Neo Maema all got a chance to start and will get a first league medal when the trophy handover is done in their final match of the season at home to Royal AM. Thabiso Kutumela and Divine Lunga, who both came on as second half substitutes, also celebrated their first league titles in the PSL.
Teboho Mokoena and Erwin Saavedra both joined Sundowns in January and are already part of a league-winning side.
Pule Maraisane is part of the Sundowns team, but has not made an appearance for the club this season.
Gordon Igesund gives his thoughts on VAR and whether it has the desired impact to improve football.
